Bury My Heart at Proxy Falls by greglief Bury My Heart at Proxy Falls by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I have been fortunate enough to see (and photographing) hundreds of waterfalls. Proxy Falls remains my favorite. If you visit the Pacific Northwest, you should make every attempt to visit this incredible waterfall. If you have a camera, you can easily spend an entire afternoon here. Trail information/directions can be found here.

Here are side views from my 2010 Proxy Falls Pilgrimage:

If you enjoy this photo, please take a few moments to visit my Waterscapes gallery.

It's reasons like this photo that is exactly why I love the Pacific Northwest. You did an amazing job capturing its beauty.

Take MANY photos! Be sure to go down the hill at the end of the trail -- it's not very difficult. That is the best way to fully appreciate the waterfall.

You might also want to visit White Branch Falls, which is just a few miles west of Proxy Falls along Highway 242.

There are hundreds and hundreds of pictures of Proxy Falls, given their beauty and popularity, but I thought you should know that anytime I want to show someone a picture of the falls, I go straight to your page passing right past the top Google searches and Peter Lik's shot of the falls.

Awesome work! :)

Thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate it. For the past decade, I have made an annual Proxy pilgrimage, and I always force myself to look for new angles/vantage points. Even if I were to visit and not take a single photo, it would still be worth the trip, hence the title for this particular photo. :D

I understand completely. Each year I try my best to get down to Oregon to visit Gorton Creek Falls. Not necessarily for photographic reasons, but I just love the area and the hike there. :)

Gorton Creek Falls is a good one! Unlike most of the Gorge waterfalls, not many people visit that one. Lack of a trail cuts down upon the number of visitors. ;)

Which is largely why I like it! I look for character, fun and difficulty of hikes, and volume of people when I decide which waterfalls I like more than others and Gorton Creek Falls certainly to appeals to all of those.

Have a newly discovered love for Tish Creek Falls, though that guy is a bit more tedious to get to!

I've seen a lot of your waterfall pictures between here and the Portland hikers forum, so I don't know why I wasn't watching you before. I hope to see and follow your photography!

Gorgeous! I made it here too! A little too much light, but I think I have some I can work with! This is by far the most gorgeous falls of them all! I ended up on my ass in the middle of this creek and loved every minute of it! :giggle:
