Jefferson Park, Lupine Study 2011 by greglief Jefferson Park, Lupine Study 2011 by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Jefferson Park is located in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness area, at the base of Mount Jefferson (10,497 feet elevation... second highest mountain in the state of Oregon). In August the wildflower meadows (and mosquitoes) are at their peak. There were carpets of lupine when we visited this year.

NOTE: When displayed at its default size, the photo may appear a bit "soft". FULL VIEW is highly recommended for better appreciation of detail.

(Nikon D90, Tokina 11-16 lens, circular polarizer, f/6.3, 1/125 second, Bogen/Manfrotto tripod)

It's MUCH nicer in person. The lupine smell a bit like grape soda. I could stay there for hours!

Such a beautiful capture, Greg! Are there any bears around here? ~ we don't have bears or big cats or wolves in Oz, just nasty crocs up north! :iconcocoplz:

There are black bears in Oregon, but I have only seen them once (and at a very healthy distance). Fortunately we do not have any crocodiles in this area... those would make me very nervous!

Hiking where there are wild animals would make ME nervous! I live down south in Melbourne and luckily for me the crocs are only in the far north, where it's thousands of miles away and very costly to visit on holidays. Unfortunately, those darn crocs come up onto the land too; they're a protected species and I'm no 'Crocodile Dundee'! Coco

Excellent work. Jefferson Park is my favorite place in the world.

I usually go in late September since the bugs and crowds are down, but I think it's worth slathering on some DEET to get shots like this. Nicely done.
