Lake Sherburne reflection by greglief Lake Sherburne reflection by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it. If you share it via Twitter, Facebook, or tumblr, please include my photo credit. Thanks!

Another photo from my trip to Glacier National Park last August. When you enter the park at Many Glacier, one of the first things you will see is Lake Sherburne and the mountains to the west. Grinnell Point is near the center of the frame, with the Garden Wall / Continental Divide beyond it.

The water was completely still, so my girlfriend and I stopped to photograph it. While most people stood at the roadside, pointing their camera phones toward the beautiful scene, we took the short rocky walk down to the water's edge for a better (and less crowded) vantage point.

NOTE: When displayed at its default size, the photo may appear a bit "soft". FULL VIEW is highly recommended for better appreciation of detail.

(Nikon D90, Nikon 18-200 lens, circular polarizer, f/22, 1/1.3 seconds, Bogen/Manfrotto tripod)

If you get the chance, and if haven't done so on your last trip, definitely look into logan pass, and the hike to hidden lake. In my personal opinion, and in the opinion of many others, its one of the best places in the park!

We visited Hidden Lake, then hiked the Highline Trail to Granite Park Chalet. The latter was stunning... one of the best hikes I have ever done anywhere. Next time we would like to visit the Two Medicine area, as well as the Siyeh Pass.

Good luck! I've never been to either of those other places. If you every go, I'd be interested in hearing what you thought!

You made a smart move to explore that path, Greg. This is breathtakingly beautiful. I love how pink the clouds are, how still the mirror lake is. This was nature's great gift to you both, and to thank you for taking that less-traveled pathway!

Thank you again, Jean! To clarify, the path to the waterfront wasn't particularly long or difficult, yet most people seemed content to pull off the road and stand next to their vehicle with their camera phone held at arm's length. Generally when one puts the least amount of effort into a photograph (or any artwork for that matter), they glean the least amount of quality in said artwork. :)

That's true. I always tried to keep ppl out of the picture, but there are times you can't do that. But I'm glad you took the extra steps needed to make a really nice picture. Some folks just don't bother.
