Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

It was a bit of a challenge to scramble to the top of Pilot Rock, but the views were worth the effort. Mount McLoughlin looms 9,495 feet above sea level, just 31 air miles to north. This view must have been even more stupendous thousands of years ago before Mount Mazama (estimated 14,000 feet elevation) collapsed to form Crater Lake.

If you enjoy this photo, please take a few moments to visit my Mountains gallery.

You make it seem so beautiful. XD

This image has a bit more visual interest simply because there are some clouds in the sky. The mountain is not as spectacular as Shasta, but I would not want to be down wind if either of them decided to do a Mt. St. Helens...

I agree on both counts (the clouds and McLoughlin not being as spectacular as Shasta). Eventually one of the Cascade volcanoes will erupt again. Shasta is more likely than McLoughlin, but who knows?
