Proxy Falls, Study 2010-1R by greglief Proxy Falls, Study 2010-1R by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery! Faves, comments, collecting, and recommendations are always appreciated. Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I have been fortunate enough to see (and photographing) hundreds of waterfalls. Proxy Falls remains my favorite. If you visit the Pacific Northwest, you should make every attempt to visit this incredible waterfall. If you have a camera, you can easily spend an entire afternoon here. Trail information/directions can be found here.

I made my annual pilgrimage on Friday the 13th (of August). This is one of the keepers. Also see:

If you missed it, here is my frontal shot from last year's "Proxy Photo Pilgrimage":

(Technical details: Nikon D90, Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod, Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX lens, Hoya Circular Polarizer, f/11, 1.3 seconds.)

If you enjoy this photo, please take a few moments to visit my Waterscapes gallery.

Special thanks to :iconlfg2000: :iconxpiecemealx: :iconsivousplay: :icondanuk86: :iconsanguineepitaph: :iconpickledgarlicbulb: for taking the time to help me decide which studies to keep!

The way the water is falling and works against the green of the rocks looks wonderful, must be wonderful to have such a beautiful place to photograph.

Proxy Falls is near the McKenzie Pass in Central Oregon, between McKenzie Bridge and Sisters. It is accessible via Highway 242, which is closed seasonally due to snowfall.

I took a long time to stare at both Study 4R and this one, and I got to say I prefer this one. Somehow, it looks a little bit more natural because the fall of the water isn't as straight downward as in the other version. :)

Though they're both beautiful, i prefer this shot instead of the Study 2010-4R :D

Thanks for your feedback. It was a very difficult choice, but only for me but for my group of "judges". :)

Beautiful Greg!

How you like that Lens? I'm in the market for a new one and tossed between that one and the Sigma 10 to 20mm

Thanks, Brian! I am not familiar with Sigma's wide-angle lens, but I can wholeheartedly recommend the Tokina 116. Most of the wide-angle photos I have posted here were taken with a Nikon 12-24, but that got stolen (along with the rest of my camera gear) last May. When I replaced it, several friends recommended the Tokina 116, and I have not regretted that decision.
