Reflecting on Mount Shuksan by greglief Reflecting on Mount Shuksan by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Mount Shuksan is one of the most photographed mountains in the world, and this small lake is a big reason. Access is super easy... just drive up and walk a few feet to the vantage point. My girlfriend and I had the place to ourselves, except for the abundant (and hungry) mosquitoes. But we had our bug spray, so we were able to keep them at bay long enough to get our photos.

This location is so ridiculously photogenic that I am convinced that it is impossible to take a bad photo. In fact, I tried to do precisely that... I deliberately under- and over-exposed some of my shots, and it made no difference!

If you enjoy this photo, please take a few moments to visit my Waterscapes gallery.

I have added it to my favs because I have the same picture, taken along the way to Mt Baker, on my wall. I took it many years ago about the same time of year little more snow though and yes it's nearly impossible to take a bad picture. I will try and find the 6x4 I had when digital wasn't around and post it. It has always been one of my favorite photos and I'm glad you took this one. I remember pulling off the road to take it and it looks like that spot is still there. Thanks for the memory :)

Please let me know if/when you post your medium format photo... I would like to see it. I also hope to return to Picture Lake during other seasons. Other than the mosquitoes, I loved it! :)

Sometimes much less than that, depending upon the location. They really liked this lake, as well as any photographers foolish enough to visit. :(

Yes, this is completely real. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes swarming around me were also quite real, but they didn't prevent me from getting this shot. :D

:blushes: I would love to return when there is more snow on Mount Shuksan, or when those trees are showing fall colors. One of these years... {sigh}

It's a beautiful spot, and VERY easy to visit. Unlike nearly all of my locations, you can drive nearly all the way to this spot.
