Sparks Lake Sunrise by greglief Sparks Lake Sunrise by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves, comments, collecting, and recommendations are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as your desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Sparks Lake offers many fantastic vantage points of South Sister, Broken Top, and Mount Bachelor. I took this photo on a chilly September morning, just before hiking to the top of South Sister (pictured here). My timing was serendipitous, not only for the incredible clouds but also for the fallen log in the water, which created fascinating reflections that became an integral part of my composition.

If you are interested in seeing more photos from Sparks Lake, please visit my PBase gallery.

If you enjoy this photo, please take a few moments to visit my Mountains and Waterscapes galleries.

(Technical details: Nikon D70, Manfrotto 190PROB tripod, Nikon 18-70mm lens, Hoya Circular Polarizer, f/22, 1.3 seconds, numb fingers. No tricky post-processing... this is how the camera captured the scene.)

No, I only shot this in JPEG. Since that time I have started shooting in both RAW and JPEG, although I generally edit the RAW file only if the lighting conditions were difficult. I was very, very fortunate with the conditions on this particular morning.
