Wahclella Falls, Winter Study #1 by greglief Wahclella Falls, Winter Study #1 by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Also, I invite you to download this image to use as desktop wallpaper. Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Wahclella Falls (Columbia River Gorge, Oregon USA) looks very different during autumn:

NOTE: When displayed at its default size, the photo may appear a bit "soft". FULL VIEW is highly recommended for better appreciation of detail.

(Nikon D70, Nikon 12-24 lens, circular polarizer, f/11 1/3 second, Bogen/Manfrotto tripod)

I also tried a very long exposure (3 minute):

More winter waterfalls:

The details in this photo really stand out and I think that comes from the wonderful contrast between the black and white.

Beautiful sharp details in this wonderful scene. It looks a bit more forbidding than your long exposure, but so what. It's a great study of nature in winter. Every little thing can be seen so clearly. Nice work, as always, Greg.

Thank you very much for your kind words! It made more sense to convert this to grayscale, because there really wasn't much color that day. Ordinarily there would be a fair amount of green, even during the winter.
