Yakso Falls by greglief Yakso Falls by greglief
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated! Please respect my work by not printing, selling, or reposting it.

Yakso Falls is a 60+ feet waterfall along the Little River east of Roseburg, Oregon. There was a lot of spray and this was somewhat tricky to frame due to trees, but the cloudy conditions were ideal to properly document this beautiful waterfall. (2.5 second exposure)

Directions can be found at the "Thundering Waters" site.

I also shot this video for your viewing/listening pleasure.

I am surprised because I didn't think that many people drove on the roads which pass the Yakso Falls trailhead.

Do you live in that area? Just curious, because there are not really any cities or towns near there.

That water looks so soft, like silky sheets spread over a bed of rock.

Absolutely stunning picture, the colors are so vivid and I love the way it seems like the water is just 'draped' over the rocks.

Thank you! This was very difficult to capture properly. There was a LOT of spray, and my composition was restricted by two large trees, which can be seen in this video. Plus, I had visited before and was thwarted by direct sunlight on the water, which completely ruined my shots.

Agreed. This was one of the most gratifying photos that I have taken this year. I was very angry/disappointed after my previous visit!

I think this is the best shot out of the ones you have just posted.Less clutter in this shot so the viewer can see the whole of the falls.Great exposure.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that the composition is much simpler than most of my waterfall photographs. The location dictated that... if you look at the video, you will see two large trees. Those forced me to frame the shot without any possibility of splash pool or downstream additions.
